Saw
Green Day last night in Detroit and they were awesome. Amazing show! The whole thing was extremely high energy and it was pretty funny watching Billie Joe Armstrong running around and jumping off of speakers and whatnot for two hours. They played some great stuff, "American Idiot", "Jesus of Suburbia", "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" as well as some of the older stuff from Dookie. Armstrong, rather tounge-in-cheek-ish-ly, dedicated "Holiday" to Bush and, rather touchingly, dedicated "Wake Me Up When September Ends" to the heroes of 9/11. It was kind of funny though because they're such a political band and I'd say a very high percentage of their audience wasn't even old enough to have voted in the last election, much less feel particularly disgruntled at the fact that we got stuck with W for a second term. I mean, most of those kids weren't even born, much less really conscious when Green Day's early albums came out. Oh well. I guess I'm being an old curmedgeon. Awesome show though, totally worth the fact that I'm all tired and not happy to be at work right now. Don't really like shows at the Palace though, they're far too big and impersonal, but there's not much I can do about that, is there?
Continuing on the music theme, on a whim I got a ticket to go see
My Chemical Romance at EMU next weekend. None of my friends listen to the same music as I do, so I'll most likely be going alone, but I'd rather go alone than not at all. If my brother's wife is cool with it my bro may come along too which would be fun. He's probably one of the few people who shares some of my "harder" musical tastes. I hope its a good show:) I hope I'm not the oldest one there!
Nothing new on the job front, I keep looking but there isn't much out there, especially now that school has started. I suppose its always possible that somebody will get pregnant or a school will realized that they hired a total psycho, fire them and look for someone new, but the liklihood of that is fairly slim. Oh well, I guess I just have to keep trying.
That's it for now.
Ciao,
Sasha
